HOROLOGICAL Craftsmanship: From Classic Movements to Bespoke Complications

At the heart of every exceptional timepiece lies its movement — a finely engineered expression of precision, craftsmanship and horological character.

Our movement offering brings together the traditional artistry of mechanical watchmaking and the technical fascination of complications. We offer carefully selected movement solutions designed to complement the proportions, character and intended use of each creation. From refined quartz calibres and self-winding mechanical movements to open-back watches with elaborately decorated mechanisms, tourbillons and chronographs, every movement can become part of the design story.

For clients seeking something truly individual, our bespoke movement service allows the timepiece to be personalised to an exceptional degree.

Quartz Movements

For those who value precision, practicality and effortless ownership, quartz movements provide an elegant solution for smaller timepieces. Particularly suited to our 29mm watches, quartz technology offers exceptional accuracy in a compact format while requiring minimal maintenance. The movement is powered by a battery, with an electronic circuit regulating the oscillation of a quartz crystal to provide highly precise timekeeping.

The result is a movement that remains discreet beneath the dial while delivering the reliability expected of a modern luxury timepiece. Our quartz watches can be specified to complement the proportions of the case and the character of the design, creating a harmonious balance between jewellery craftsmanship and contemporary horology.

Automatic Movements

An automatic movement combines traditional mechanical watchmaking with the convenience of self-winding technology. Within the movement, a freely rotating oscillating weight — or rotor — converts the natural movement of the wrist into energy, winding the mainspring as the watch is worn.

For selected creations, we can offer automatic movements with platinum rotors, bringing an additional level of refinement to the mechanism. Platinum provides substantial mass within a compact volume, making it particularly suited to an elegant mechanical movement while creating a striking component when viewed through an open caseback. An automatic movement can therefore be appreciated not only for the way it powers the watch, but also for the movement of the rotor itself — transforming the mechanism into part of the visual experience.

Mechanical Movements: The traditional art of horology

Mechanical watchmaking represents the purest expression of traditional horological craftsmanship. A mechanical movement stores energy within its mainspring before releasing it progressively through the gear train and escapement. The regulated energy ultimately drives the hands, creating the characteristic rhythm of a mechanical timepiece.

For clients who appreciate the beauty of traditional watchmaking, our mechanical creations can incorporate open casebacks, allowing the movement to become a visible feature of the watch. Bridges, wheels, screws, balance assemblies and other components can be finished and decorated according to the character of the timepiece, creating a movement that is as considered aesthetically as it is technically.

Open-Back Watches

An open caseback transforms the movement from something concealed into something to be admired. Through the sapphire display back, the architecture of the calibre can be observed in motion — from the oscillation of the balance wheel to the rotation of an automatic rotor and the precise interaction of the mechanical components.

For our more exclusive creations, movement finishing can include decorative engraving, polished and brushed surfaces, specially finished bridges and personalised motifs. The result is a timepiece designed to be appreciated from both sides.

Tourbillon Movements

The tourbillon remains one of the most captivating expressions of mechanical horology. Developed as a means of addressing the effects of gravity on the regulating organ of a mechanical movement, the tourbillon places the balance and escapement within a rotating cage.

Its technical purpose is accompanied by an undeniable visual quality. The continuous rotation of the tourbillon creates a living focal point within the movement, making it particularly compelling when revealed through an open dial or sapphire caseback. Our tourbillon creations may be developed around manual-winding or automatic architecture, depending on the design requirements of the timepiece. For exceptional commissions, the tourbillon itself can become part of a wider bespoke movement concept, with customised finishing, bridge architecture and decorative details.

Chronograph Movements

The chronograph adds a functional complication to the mechanical watch, allowing elapsed time to be measured independently of the primary time display.

A sophisticated chronograph movement combines additional mechanical components with the fundamental timekeeping mechanism, creating a movement of considerable technical interest.

For bespoke creations, chronograph functionality can be integrated into the overall architecture of the watch while maintaining a refined and coherent aesthetic.

From a discreet luxury chronograph to a highly visible open-worked mechanism, the complication can be tailored to the character of the individual timepiece.

Bespoke Complications

For a truly exceptional creation, the movement need not be limited to a standard configuration. Our bespoke watchmaking service allows clients to explore personalised mechanical complications and movement features developed around the concept of their timepiece.

Depending on the project, bespoke specifications may include:

  • Tourbillon mechanisms

  • Chronograph functions

  • Moon-phase indications

  • Date displays

  • Power-reserve indications

  • Special calendar functions

  • Customised rotors

  • Skeletonised or open-worked movement architecture

  • Personalised bridges and engravings

  • Bespoke movement decoration

  • Specially designed mechanical displays

  • Unique combinations of complications

Each complication is considered as part of the complete watch rather than as an isolated technical feature. The case, dial, movement, complication and finishing are developed as one coherent expression.

Bespoke Movement Design

The most extraordinary watches begin with an idea. Our bespoke service allows that idea to extend beyond the case and dial and into the movement itself. Clients may select the movement architecture, level of finishing, visible components and complications before working with our watchmaking specialists to develop the final configuration. A movement may be conceived to remain discreet beneath a precious dial, or designed specifically to be revealed through an open caseback. Every element is considered with the same philosophy: technical precision should exist in harmony with beauty.
