Christmas in London

When not attending Christmas carols in the warmth of St Martin-in-the-fields right by Trafalgar Square or sitting by a crackling fireplace at home watching holiday classics like Love Actually, Home Alone or Elf, high-spirited Londoners will be braving the winter cold wrapped up in their warmest garments to enjoy the many Christmas-themed activities that their town has to offer. Find out how we will be enjoying the most wonderful time of the year in our all-time favourite city.

Let it Shine

It’s that time of year where Christmas carols and holiday cheer can be found all around. In London, the festive lights have been switched on and have turned our city into a cosy winter wonderland. From Oxford Street to Covent Garden, the streets and buildings in our capital city are abound with lustrous ornaments, its shine reminiscent of our dazzling Ballerina Jonquil carefully set with a rich palette of coloured gemstones; going from white colourless - to fancy yellow diamonds boasting a seamless crescendo of colour. We know we will be out there enjoying the glistening streets of London.

SLIP & SLIDE

If there is one outdoor activity that has Chrimbo written all over it, it must be ice-skating. And London surely does not disappoint; there are ice-rinks galore, from the Natural History Museum and Somerset House to Winter Wonderland and the Queen’s House (Who wouldn’t want to glide by a Unesco World Heritage Site?). As luck would have it, there are also other ways of enjoying a frosty surface. Our Berkeley Prince 43 for instance, which is invisibly set with 264 bespoke cut baguette diamonds, offers a rather original way to “frost” yourself.

CHRISTMAS MARKETS GALORE

After a tiring session of ice-skating with friends and family, it is only fitting to take a break over a perfectly spiced and steaming mulled wine as you enjoy some warm churros dipped in chocolate. The ample ski lodges in and around London’s many Christmas markets emulate a cosy mountainside retreat and allow you to let your senses travel to faraway places. Our favourite festive fairs would have to be Winter Wonderland, Southbank Centre and Leicester Square.

‘Tis the Season

Last but definitely not least, we will be eagerly heading to the city’s many popular shopping districts to find that special present for our loved ones. If we’re not on Oxford - or Regent Street, you will most probably spot us in neighbouring Mayfair, where the capital city’s jewellery and watch houses can be found. We for one know of an English townhouse hideaway, Mayfair’s secret if you may, which houses the most exquisite diamond-set timepieces. You are cordially invited to learn more about our history as you find that perfect unique timepiece for that special someone this Holiday Season at the House of Backes & Strauss.
